How much does a business website cost in 2026?

Quotes range from a few hundred to several thousand euros for websites that look alike at first glance. This guide explains what really changes the price, what to budget after launch, and how to compare two quotes.

01

The short answer.

At Tramevia, a custom business website of up to five pages starts at €490, and a landing page at €249, VAT not applicable. The exact price is set in a free quote before any work starts.

Elsewhere the range is wide: an online website builder is paid monthly for as long as the site exists, a freelancer usually charges a fixed fee, an agency adds steps and people. None is better in absolute terms: it depends on what you need.

02

What changes the price.

Five things explain most of the gap between two quotes:

  • The number of pages: one scrolling page, or home, services, work, about and contact.
  • The content: texts and photos you supply, or ones to be written and produced.
  • The features: a simple form, a guided quote request, booking or online payment.
  • The design: an adapted template, or a layout drawn for your business.
  • The languages: each extra version needs translating and checking.

Online booking (from €790) and an online shop (from €990) change the nature of the project: they are services of their own.

03

What a website costs after launch.

The price of the website is not the only cost. Budget for:

  • The domain name, usually around ten to twenty euros a year for a .com or a .fr.
  • Hosting, free or a few euros a month for a well-built business website.
  • Maintenance, optional: updates, backups, small changes. At Tramevia, from €19 a month.

With an online builder, the subscription often bundles these costs, but it runs for as long as the site exists; if you leave, the site usually does not come with you.

04

Website builder, WordPress or custom-built?

  • An online builder suits you if you want to do everything yourself and accept a monthly subscription.
  • WordPress suits you if you want to edit many pages yourself; its plugins need regular updates.
  • A custom-built website is lighter, faster and has no plugins to update; it suits a site that changes little and must above all convince.

If you are unsure, say so before the quote: the right choice depends on who will make changes, and how often.

05

How to read a quote.

Before signing, check that the quote clearly answers these questions:

  • Which pages, with what content, and who supplies the texts and photos?
  • How many rounds of changes are included?
  • Are the domain and hosting in your name?
  • Do you receive the source files and access at the end?
  • What is the schedule, and what happens if content arrives late?
  • What is not included?

A quote that answers all of this is often worth more than a cheaper one that says nothing.

The “Your website in 30 seconds” demo composes a preview from your trade, a look and the features you want, and shows the matching starting price. Nothing is sent: you can then pass the project on through the contact form.

07 · Questions

Questions.

Q

Is a €490 website really custom-built?

Yes: the layout is drawn for your business, with no generic template. The price stays low because the site is light and the content comes from you.

Q

Can the price change along the way?

Not with me without your agreement: the price is set in the quote. A new request is priced separately, before it is done.

Q

How long does it take?

The schedule is in the quote. It depends mostly on the number of pages and on when your texts and photos are ready.
