Website and workspace of Laboratoire Marnière, a research unit in soil and freshwater ecology (fictional, fictional data)
The website that presents the lab, and the space that runs it.
Public side: the team, three research lines, fourteen filterable publications, eight instruments, news and a contact page. Lab side: the instrument booking planning, sample tracking with full history, the stations’ measurements and exports. One website, one state: a booked slot shows at once on the instrument’s public page.
Custom website and tool, price agreed before we start

A lab lives in a notebook: dates, devices, sample numbers, measurements. The website takes up the notebook.

0slots booked this week
Book the device, the planning follows.
The planning above is the one of the lab space: one cell per hour, colleagues’ bookings in grey, yours in blue. Tap a free cell to take two hours; the upcoming list and the counter change with you, and a click on your slot cancels it.
Book a free cell, then cancel it.

01
A booked slot shows everywhere.
The planning, the day’s dashboard, the instrument’s public page and the activity log read the same data. Each device’s rules are enforced: opening hours, minimum duration, planned maintenance, slots already past.

02
Measurements read like a paper.
Nitrate and water temperature of the Jalle stations, soil carbon by horizon: numbered figures, thin lines, a legend, a tooltip on hover and keyboard, and a table view for every chart. The series colours were checked for colour-vision deficiencies, in light and dark mode alike.

03
Every sample tells its journey.
Received, in preparation, under analysis, validated, archived: twenty samples of soil, water, sediment and biofilm, each with its dated history and the team’s notes. A status moves forward from the sample sheet, the filter and dashboard counts follow, and the CSV export is generated in the browser.

Laboratoire Marnière, its team, publications, journals, devices and measurements are fictional, created for this case study; DOIs use the example prefix 10.5555. The website is a demonstration: the contact form simulates sending and the exports are generated in the browser. No entered data is sent or kept.
